Orlando Innamorato (Orlando in Love) is an epic poem written by the Italian Renaissance author Matteo Maria Boiardo. The poem is a romance concerning the heroic knight Orlando (Roland). About the Author Matteo Maria Boiardo (1440/1 – December 19, 1494) was an Italian Renaissance poet. Boiardo was born at, or near, Scandiano (today's province of Reggio Emilia); the son of Giovanni di Feltrino and Lucia Strozzi, he was of noble lineage, ranking as Count of Scandiano, with seignorial power over Arceto, Casalgrande, Gesso, and Torricella. Boiardo was an ideal example of a gifted and accomplished courtier, possessing at the same time a manly heart and deep humanistic learning.

This is the largest book I have seen to date written and illustrated by Paul Goble, and with the painting of Grandmother Turtle he certainly tries to come up with something bigger. Detailed and extremely well researched. While the author may have targeted this book for college students, it could (and should) be studied by millions of diverse readers from all around the planet. An interested reader will study original papers (of course) and per
