The San Francisco, the American flagship, was grievously damaged in that action, and both her captain and the admiral of the American task force, Callaghan, were killed along with about 100 other men. It tends to clear one's mind, and strangely enough people tend to clear away from me, and I get lots of free seating around me. Over 1/2 the book is homework, and there are very few examples, most of which are not beneficial for reference with the homework.
If the author reads this, you know your stuff, but change your style of writing. Shawn's New Yorker is the Mehta book I like least. The meat of the book, the "case studies," contain short selections from the relevant original texts so students can engage the original authors at their level.
This must be a very difficult sort of book to write while keeping the length
