Fairies and Mermaids, a GRAYSCALE coloring book, by Molly Harrison features 25 single sided pages of fairy and mermaid illustrations taken from Molly's watercolor paintings. The images are a bit different from other coloring books in that they entail shading and highlights. It is fun to color over grayscale pictures and it can help you learn how to do your own shading and highlighting. This coloring book is suitable for colored pencils, markers, gel pens, and pastels. It is not really suitable for crayons because they can be too opaque and will cover up the gray values. If you use markers, you will need to put a few pieces of regular paper or a heavy piece of card stock between the pages to prevent bleed through. I have experimented with using markers and colored pencil and adding some sparkle with gel pens. It is definitely not intended for wet media such as watercolor. All ages are wel
