Few ships in American history have had as illustrious a history as the heavy cruiser USS Portland (CA-33), affectionately known by her crew as "Sweet Pea". With the destruction of most of the US battleship fleet at Pearl Harbor, cruisers such as Sweet Pea carried the biggest guns the Navy possessed for nearly a year after the start of World War II. This volume describes in harrowing detail how Portland and her sisters protected the precious carriers and held the line against overwhelming Japanese naval strength. Portland was instrumental in the dramatic American victories at the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, and the naval battle of Guadalcanal - conflicts that historians regard as turning points in the Pacific war. Portland was the only cruiser ever to fight twice in night battles against enemy battleships, winning both times, and her skilled crew kept her from being hit

Editorial : "Generous's clear, sometimes witty, and often eloquent prose gives his reader not only a sense' of what those men went through and felt, but he also skillfully embodies Sweet Pea into the larger strategy of the great Pacific naval war."

I frequently visit Amazon.com to see if there are any interresting new books on the market. Get it now before the change to 5.0. Warms, caught fire, six miles off Asbury Park, NJ and drifted ashore. Vertical Transportation should be in "Building Systems" chapter, but is in the "BD&CS" chapter).

There are 2 chapters at the very end - Chapters 55 & 56 - Code info- and they should absolutely be the first chapters in the book!!!! They are not and I just realized, 3 tests in, that these chapters exist. Nice anecdotes. But once I got the hang of it, I put the 2nd one together in 20 minutes!!! The trick is to cut all the fruit first and then arrange it!

GREAT BOOK WITH LOTS OF PHOTOS AND DIRECTIONS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF FRUIT ARRANGEMENTS. After the first dozen pages, the book dives into a very detail, and theoretical descriptions. Hence three stars instead of four.
